Secret Agents

Is your child ready to be the next great secret agent?! They will be once they join Agent J. (Aka: Ms. Collyn/Ms. Justus) this summer to start their training! Their mission, if you choose to accept it, includes crafting their own secret agent identity, building ingenious spy gadgets, learning to read top-secret messages, analyzing fingerprints, dodging lasers, finding hidden clues, and more. By the end of the week, campers complete their personal agent dossier and go on a top-secret mission, using all their awesome new secret agent skills, earning their Double-0 status!

Space Explorers

Get ready to blast off! After learning about what propels rockets into space, students make and launch many types of rockets including air, straw, and chemical. Like a real astronaut, we will plan a mission to Mars by deciding what to take and finding a way to power the station. As we check in on the Mars rover Curiosity and spacecraft Juno, Cassini, and New Horizons, we’ll find out about the newest discoveries in space. If you are ready to travel the solar system and beyond, come join Collegiate science teacher Betsy Stern for a week of imagination, discovery, and fun.

The Adventures of Strega Nona & Big Anthony

Bubble, bubble, magic pot…Join Lower School teacher Jamie Steinbock for a week-long celebration of reading! Author studies help students develop a love of literature and reading, by allowing them to begin to understand how an author’s individual style influences the content of a book. This week we will be diving into the works by Tomie dePaola, author of Strega Nona, featuring the adventures of Strega Nona and Big Anthony. We will read, compare stories, and engage in fun activities across academic content areas related to the various titled books by Tomie dePaola. 

 

Titan/Amazon Soccer

Come join Titan Varsity Soccer Coach Chad Wozniak and some of our Titan soccer players for a week of fun-filled soccer games and skill development. Coach and his players will focus on fun competitions and scrimmages for soccer players of all levels! This camp takes place on the Campus Field at LCS.

 

Titan/Amazon Lacrosse Camp

This camp will provide an opportunity to learn the basics on the offensive and defensive end of the game while in a fun and creative environment. We will focus on catching, throwing, ground balls, and specific dodges that are accustomed to the game. As we move away from stick work, we will cover 1 on 1 and build to 3 on 3 game situations.  The only required equipment will be a stick. It is recommended to bring your own, but the school can provide them as well. 

 

Young Playwrights

Summer Reading Anti-Procrastination Camp

Don’t find yourself at the end of the summer with your required reading assignments looming! If you join your friends at Mr. Beasley’s Anti-Procrastination Camp, you can check your summer reading off your list! Read, play games, and talk about books. Mr. Beasley will guide you through your assignments in this relaxed and productive camp. 

 

Mountain Biking in Cherokee
Grades 6-8

Middle School science teacher, Eagle Scout, and avid outdoorsman, Jon Coole will lead you on a biking exploration of Cherokee Park trails (or, as some have called it, the Church of Sticks and Stones). After working up a hearty appetite and thirst, mountain bikers will find a few yummy stops on Bardstown Road. Mr. Coole will also lead a mechanical tour of the gears, chains, and other moving parts of your amazing two-wheeled transportation. Each participant is required to have a bike that can navigate the trails and a helmet to protect them should the adventure take the rider off course.

 

French Cooking
Grades 6-9

Each day students will make traditional French recipes. They will learn French cooking techniques, a little French, and be able to sample everything they make. Students will leave at the end of the week with a cookbook that includes all of the recipes we make. 

 

Alphabet Bonanza

We will explore the ABCs as we read stories and poems, sing songs, and play in centers. This is an exploratory camp for young learners beginning their literacy journey!

 

Celebramos Espanol

Pack your bags for a great vacation! Collegiate teacher Senora Long and her students are off to visit Espana, Mexico, Cuba, and Ecuador! Students will explore the language, geography, music, art, games, and traditions of these countries. Come and learn the Hispanic culture together and discover how much fun it is to learn Espanol!

 

Messy Art

Everything about this camp is messy, gooey and slimy. Kids will mix paint with spaghetti, get dirty with gooey clay and create explosive art that involves a little science and more. Get ready for a big, messy week full of art activities, games, music and lots of laughs.

 

Amazon Field Hockey

Collegiate’s Amazon field hockey camp is designed for all levels and focuses on skill development and player endurance. After warm-ups, we will play team-building games and then focus on building field hockey skills. Coach Ritchey inspires all athletes in a creative way for every player to enjoy the game!  This camp takes place on the Campus Field at LCS. Please bring your own shin guards and a mouthguard. The school can provide a mask and a stick or you may bring your own. 

 

Girl Power
Grades 2-5

Through crafts, movement, mindfulness, and journaling, we will explore female role models of the past and present.  By learning about ourselves and strong role models, we can grow up to be exactly who we want to be! Join Lower School staff member Elizabeth Cantrell for this empowering week of Girl Power! 

 

Summer Reading Kick-Off

Lower School teacher Jill Beasley will help students jump into their summer reading and work on their projects. Mrs. Beasley will ensure that each student achieves maximum comprehension and has a great time doing so! 

 

Tabletop Roleplaying
Grades 6-8

Want to slay dragons, rule kingdoms, solve mysteries, or explore fantastical worlds? You’ll learn to create characters you can only imagine, then roll the dice to put them in wild and ongoing stories. Knowledge of roleplaying games like Dungeons & Dragons is not required, as you’ll learn everything you need to play. All that you need is a great imagination and the ability to play well with others! 

 

French Immersion
Grades 7-9

This camp is for students who have experience speaking French at the 6th-grade level or beyond. We will speak French at least 90% of our time together. We will play games, do crafts or cook, go on walking tours, watch and make movies, and do many other fun activities all while enjoying each other’s company and practicing our French.
