Junk Art

Come join me in my “tinker lab,” an ever-growing collection of discarded and found items- for some open-ended play, design thinking exercises, and creative expression! This is a great way to stretch your mind and imagination in the summer, not to mention it benefits both the child and the environment!

 

Amazon Lacrosse Skill & Drills (indoors)

Join Coach Benton and the Amazon Lacrosse team as they host a camp for 1st through 8th-grade students who are interested in playing lacrosse. The camp will focus on skills such as catching and throwing, ground balls, shooting, dodging, and defensive footwork. This camp is a great opportunity for players of all skill levels to develop lacrosse skills and have fun learning the sport! It is recommended to bring your own mask, stick, and mouthguard but students can also borrow a stick and mask from the school. 

 

Board Game Fun

Come unplug and get your game on.  Join teacher Stevie Trent for a week of awesomely fun board games such as Apples to Apples, Clue and the fast paced Monopoly Deal–everyone will have a blast!  

 

Advanced Lego Robotics
Grades 5-8

In this advanced camp, students who already have experience with LEGO MINDSTORMS® technology will take their skills and understanding to the next level. We will use the newest generation of Lego® robotics equipment (Spike! Prime) to build on the skills already developed in many introductory courses.  Students will work in pairs to design, build, test and program robots using math and science concepts. The sky’s the limit as we will be able to dig deeper than they have in the past. Through this experience, they will learn critical thinking and team-building skills. It’s fun, it’s exciting, and the skills they learn will last a lifetime.

 

Gym Time
Grades JK-1

Gym Time will explore different indoor activities including striking skills, rolling games, net games, base games, and parachutes. Students will learn the skills and terminology associated with each activity to reinforce familiar skills and introduce new ones. If you like games in Physical Education, you’ll love summer camp in Gym Time!  

 

Musical Mayhem

Join Sara MacLean, a talented composer who has produced several of her own recordings, for a week of music and fun.  Using your imagination, you’ll sing and dance and bring out the musician in you. Explore and pretend with musical games and a variety of percussion instruments.  Experiment and play with sounds and rhythm to create your own musical drama based on folktales from around the world. Round out the experience with art to accompany your original drama and free-dance.  Parents and friends are invited to a final performance on Friday.  

 

Paint Like a Modern Artist

Let’s jump into art of the 20th century by learning about the artistic styles and lives of some of the most famous painters and sculptors who defined Modern Art.  From Piccaso to Pollock, we will explore and paint in the style of Cubists, Surrealists, and Abstract artists creating both 2-D and 3-D masterpieces! Come join Collegiate kindergarten teacher and art enthusiast, Heidi Blackburn, for an amazing week exploring Modern Art.

 

Folktales & Fairytales

Explore a variety of folk tales and fairy tales from around the world. We will put on skits and puppet shows and even write our own folk tale!

 

Getting Lost in the Inkscape
Grades 4-5

This camp is for kids who took the Exploring the Inkscape Class or who have a little experience with Inkscape or similar drawing software. We will continue our exploration of Inkscape’s capabilities, including making objects that shine and objects that have perspective. Every day you will create your own original art and send it home electronically. At the end of the week you will take home a digital portfolio of your art on a flash drive.
