Amazons Golf Continues Historic Season

The Louisville Collegiate School Amazons are making history on the golf course.

In the midst of a record-breaking season, the Amazons have continued to build on a tradition of excellence while demonstrating the talent, teamwork, and determination that define Collegiate athletics.

For the fifth consecutive year, the Amazons were crowned All-A Region 7 champions, earning a spot in the All-A Classic finals in Richmond, Kentucky. University of Dayton commit Heidi Mitchell led the way, finishing tied for third and tying a Collegiate All-A final-round record with an impressive 77.

Teammates Alexandra Scharfenberger, Addy Blieden, Naomi Linville, and newcomer Kate Watkins helped the Amazons finish fourth overall with a 379—the best team score in program history at the All-A Classic.

The team continued its strong play at the Jefferson County Invitational, posting its best nine-hole team score in five years with a 181 to finish fourth overall. Heidi once again led the Amazons, tying for second with an even-par 35.

Earlier in the season, Heidi and Alexandra also turned in standout performances at the Cherokee Cup, finishing second and third, respectively, with rounds of 71 and 74.

Heidi’s consistent performance throughout the season has also earned her enough All-State points as a top-20 individual golfer in Kentucky to receive an invitation to the KGCA Championships in Lexington. She will compete in the two-day, 36-hole championship alongside many of the state’s top golfers.

As the regular season winds down, the Amazons are setting their sights on the KHSAA Regional Tournament on Tuesday, September 22, at Seneca Golf Course.

From championship finishes to record-setting scores, this has already been a historic season for Collegiate Golf. And with a talented group of student-athletes continuing to compete, grow, and support one another, the Amazons aren’t finished yet.
