Drama & Theatre
Use of play, role drama, collaborative learning creates classroom and performance opportunities for the Lower School to explore movement, music, and storytelling. Inherent to every level of study in theatre and drama is a grounding in the craft and technique of movement and voice and text interpretation.
The Middle School student explores the beginnings of theatre, dabbles in the fun of Commedia del ‘arte, and the work of Shakespeare while also taking a leadership role in devising and creating original work. The Middle School student also deepens their craft and technique in voice, movement, and text work.
The Upper School Theatre experience may be explored through Theater, Theater Second Stage, Musical Theater Workshop, and Independent Study. Students test their skill and craft in seeking to create relevant and meaningful theatre for class critique and/or public performance. All students take a leadership role in the design and execution of each performance.
