Tuition

An independent school education is one of the most important investments you can make for your child and we hope that you will consider Louisville Collegiate School. Collegiate values diversity, inclusion and access. Enrolling students from a wide range of economic circumstances is one way that we strive to be diverse and inclusive. The published total cost of tuition for an independent school education can be expensive. To that end, we have created an Indexed Tuition model to support our commitment to an affordable education. The calculator below is designed to provide families an estimated tuition range. Collegiate awarded more than $2.9 million in 2017-18 to approximately 40% of the student body, allowing us to maintain a diverse student population.

Louisville Collegiate School bundles its fees into one, all-inclusive tuition charge. With the exception of a few items listed below, lower and middle school books, academic fees and class overnight trips are included in this single billing. Also included are lunch, musical instrument rental and student-accident insurance.

While there is an expectation of some tuition payment from all families, no family should assume that a Collegiate education is out of reach for financial reasons. Collegiate School supports a tuition assistance program for families of students who are unable to meet all tuition costs.

*Based on a family of 4 with two parents filing jointly and one tuition-paying student you may qualify to pay this projected tuition amount.

*To qualify for Collegiate’s Indexed Tuition, families must apply through a standard process (SSS) administered by the National Association of Independent Schools. Please note that there are many factors that go into determining a family’s tuition level, including the availability of funds and Collegiate’s enrollment.  Additional factors are considered by SSS when evaluating a family’s ability to pay, including but not limited to: family size, the number of children attending tuition-charging schools, and assets and liabilities not reflected in household income.

Indexed Tuition FAQs

We estimate an affordable tuition range for each family based on a family’s demonstrated need. A family is likely to pay tuition that falls within that range.

In order to be considered for an award with your child’s 2018-19 enrollment contract, families should complete the Parents’ Financial Statement (PFS) at www.sssbynais.org (SSS) and upload all supporting documentation. Current Collegiate families should complete the application process by December 4, 2017. Prospective families should complete their application (PFS) by December 15, 2017, to be considered in first round tuition assistance decisions. Notification of decision is on or before March 10, 2018.

The PFS is required to be completed along with the following documentation uploaded to the SSS website before files are reviewed for a tuition assistance award:

Tuition assistance applications for the 2018-19 school year are available after October 2, 2017.

Unfortunately, we do not have the resources to offer Indexed Tuition to every student who qualifies for both admission and a reduced tuition. A student may be admitted to the school but waitlisted for Indexed Tuition.
Yes, assuming the family still demonstrates financial need. All families who currently pay Indexed Tuition must apply each year. Collegiate attempts to keep a family’s tuition at a similar level each year as long as no major changes have occurred in a family’s financial situation during the previous year.
Families are welcome to apply. However, there is no guarantee that a family will pay reduced tuition in subsequent years. In most situations, Collegiate makes every effort to respond to a family’s financial need, but the decision is based on the availability of funds and class space.
Collegiate requires that all custodial parents complete the Indexed Tuition application process.
A family’s financial need does not affect a student’s acceptance by the school. Indexed Tuition is determined separately.
For families who complete their admission and Indexed Tuition application by the first round deadlines, Indexed Tuition will be listed on enrollment contracts sent in February. Responses to families will fall into three categories: an offer of Indexed Tuition; notification that the family does not qualify for Indexed Tuition; or notice that the family is placed in a wait pool for Indexed Tuition. A wait pooled decision means that a family will be considered for Indexed Tuition if funding and class space become available.
At the bottom of the PFS application there is a place for families to explain any unusual circumstances.
Collegiate offers need-based tuition assistance and academic merit-based scholarships.
