On Saturday, December 14, Collegiate hosted the Louisville Regional FLL Robotics Tournament. The Upper School robotics team, DELTA Robotics, volunteered in various roles, serving as emcees, referees, and team support.
Collegiate had four Middle School teams participating in the tournament, for a total of 16 teams. All four of Collegiate’s teams finished in the top seven of the robot game standings and won other awards. Congratulations to all of our teams and coaches!
Cyborg Sharks: Eleanor Abney ’30, Waller Austin ’30, Mia Joseph ’30, Rutledge Harris ’30, Hayden McIntosh ’30, Alden Reed ’30, Carwyn Tran-Norenberg ’30, and Jack Yates ’30 finished sixth in the robot game and won the Third Place Champions Award, advancing to the state tournament. The team is coached by Warren Erath, Julie Tran, and Sophia Lee ’28.
Yellow Submarine: Jack Eifler ’29, Jamie Hoban ’29, Joseph Marshall ’29, Doran Rizzo ’29, Ryan Wachsman ’29, Lucas Yan ’29, and Matt Yan ’29 finished first in the robot game and won the Innovation Project award. The team is coached by Jon Coole, James Marshall Sr., and Pierson Rooprai ’28.
Jumbo Shrimp: Margaret Barr ’31, Reed Gallagher ’31, Grant Jackson ’31, Luke McNally ’31, Joe Neat ’31, Emerson Sowell ’31, and Deja Vaughn ’31 finished seventh in the robot game. The team is coached by Lee Payne and Solomon MacDonald ’28, who won the Coach/Mentor award.
Flying Squid: Lucas Ding ’32, Rori Heely ’32, Declan Marcum ’32, Parker McIntosh ’32, David Owsley ’32, Foster Priddy ’32, and Eliot Tran ’32 finished fourth in the root game. The team is coached by Sam Habeeb and Will Gahan ’28.
