Under the Sea

Spend a week with Lower School teacher Gabby Garofalol Under the Sea learning about the oceans through play. Underwater themed games, crafts, and activities and shore to be a hook, line, and sinker! Rising Junior Kindergartners will have a big shell-ebration Under the Sea!

 

 

Yoga, Mindfulness & Crafts

Grades K-4

Join us as we practice mental and physical activities that can help reduce stress, strengthen attention and focus, and better resolve inevitable conflicts as they arise during these unprecedented times. While adhering to social distancing each day, children will share an opening circle activity, learn yoga, make a craft, practice mindful techniques, and connect to the natural world.

 

 

Spanish is Easy!

Join Junior Kindergarten teacher Mrs. Rocio Lalama on an adventure to learn and reinforce concepts of the Spanish language and culture! Through songs, small chats, puppets, and videos, students will explore elements of the Spanish language and culture for a full week of immersion!

 

 
Sports Fun!

Grades K-4

Sports Fun! will explore different indoor activities including striking skills, rolling games, net games, base games, and parachutes. Students will learn the skills and terminology associated with each activity to reinforce familiar skills and introduce new ones. If you like games in Physical Education, you’ll love summer camp in Sports Fun!

 

 

Summer Reading Kickoff

Start the summer on the right foot, making sure all of your summer reading is in the bag! Lower School teacher Jill Beasley will help students jump into their summer reading and work on their projects. Ms. Beasley will ensure that each student achieves maximum comprehension and has a great time doing so!

 

 
Hiking Around Louisville

Grades 6-8

Hiking Around Louisville will do just that! 6th-8th grade students will get to experience a variety of hikes in locations around Jefferson County. Potential locations include: Iroquois Park, Cherokee Park, Parklands at Floyd’s Fork, and Jefferson Memorial Forest. The “Leave No Trace” principles will be the main educational focus of this camp. Campers should be in good shape physically and be able to hike 4-5 miles in a day.

 

 

Lifetime Fitness

Grades 5-8

Lifetime fitness will encompass active sports students will use throughout their lifetime. Activities include sand volleyball, golf, fishing, and outdoor engagement.

 

 

Mountain Biking in Cherokee Park

Grades 5-8

Middle School science teacher, Eagle Scout, and avid outdoorsman, Jon Coole will lead you on a biking exploration of Cherokee Park trails (or, as some have called it, the Church of Sticks and Stones). After working up a hearty appetite and thirst, mountain bikers will find a few yummy stops on Bardstown Road. Mr. Coole will also lead a mechanical tour of the gears, chains, and other moving parts of your amazing two-wheeled transportation. Each participant is required to have a bike that can navigate the trails and a helmet to protect them should the adventure take the rider off course.

 


 

Fairy Tales!

Once upon a time, there was a magical land in the heart of the Cherokee Triangle where kids from all over came to play. All week, they read different fairy tales and made crafts, had magical snacks, and got to play on the most wonderful playground they’d ever seen. Join 2nd Grade Teacher, Ms. Garofalo, on a magical adventure in Fairy Tales!

 

 

Basketball Skills

Grades 1-3

Come learn some new basketball skills, or work on current skills, with Middle School Basketball Coach and Lower School Espanol Teacher Senora Long! All are welcome for a week of technique, games, and fun!

 

 

Unplugged Fun

Please join me as we have fun, build friendships, and use various problem-solving skills in a technology-free zone! We all know how attractive screen-time is to all of us, but unplugged social interaction is imperative for successful child development. Activities will range from board games to outdoor activities, to Mad-Libbing, crafts, and more!

 

 

Basketball Skills

5th-8th Grade

Come work on your basketball fundamentals this summer with Coach Newberry! Whether your child is looking to refine existing skills, pick up new tips, or just have fun playing basketball, this camp is sure to be a hit.

 

 

 

Soccer Goalkeeping Fundamentals (intermediate) @ Champion’s Trace

Grades 5-8

5:00-8:00 p.m.

We will work on the basic fundamentals of goalkeeping (contours, distribution, collapse dives, etc) and then move into more advanced techniques such as breakaways, power-dives, boxing, and distribution. Additionally, we will discuss dead ball organization and positioning. Players will need a water bottle, goalkeeper gloves, soccer cleats, shinguards under soccer socks, short sleeve and long sleeve shirt. Director of Summer Programs, Ashley Dykes, will be on-site at Champion’s Trace with Coach Priddy for the duration of the camp. Drop-off and pick-up will be at Champion’s Trace, transportation will not be provided by the school.
