Middle School Students Compete in the FLL Robotics Tournament

Congratulations to our Middle School Robotics teams who competed at the FLL Robotics Tournament in Bowling Green on Saturday, January 22, 2022. They won several awards, and two of the three teams advanced to the state competition.

 

Team Results: 

 

 

Axolegosaurus scored 155 points and finished in a tie with two other teams for 20th in the robot game. Team members include Brandon Coole ’28, Matthew Dietz ’28, Henry Green ’28, Maverick Hamilton ’28, Miles Johnson ’28, Hank Ogburn ’28, Joseph Marshall ’29, and John Nickols ’29.  

 

 

Collegiate Prime scored 205 points and finished in 12th place in the robot game. With a top-eight overall performance, they advanced to the state competition! Team members include Hudson Swaminathan ’27, Will Gahan ’28, Sophia Lee ’28, Bobby Lerner ’28, Bowie Schneider ’28, Pierson Rooprai ’28, Jamie Hoban ’29, and Leo Watkins ’29

 

 

9 1/2 Musketeers scored 280 points and finished 1st in the robot game (earning them the 1st Place Robot Performance Award). They also won the 1st Place Innovation Project Award, and 2nd Place Grand Champions Award (overall finish – all categories combined), and Advanced to State! Team members include Jack Blythe ’26, Lillian Chung ’26, Ian Purnell-Gatewood ’26, Anne-Miriam Weinberg ’26, C.S. Ho ’27, Wilson Masick ’27, and Alen Smailhodzic ’27.

 

Coaches were Jon Coole, Emily Conn, Jennifer Hoban, Annie Amyx, parent volunteers Yenny Ho P’27, and Juliet Gray P ’24, ’26. Thanks to all for your dedication!

 

The teams also brought donations from the “Stuff the Bus” for tornado victims and donated them to the host school’s Family Resource Center. Thank you to all those who donated!
